The idea is based on the relationship between parent and child and is one of a series of sculptures about family life and values.

It shows the parent and child with arms entwined, the parent is protecting the child and the child feels safe in the arms of the parent.

The heart shape of the legs adds to the symbolic love between parent and child.

The original design influence came from ancient African sculpture as I liked the idea of the head shape having simple eyes and nose and no mouth.

This sculpture is intended to capture the way that the dragonfly delicately rests in the sun on a contorted willow branch overlooking a pond.

I have a particular interest in forging organic shapes of trees and leaves, so the contorted willow makes a good subject.
